PROSPECTOR PARK
Date Complete: Underway
Construction Cost: $7.8 million
Size: 11.5 acres
WDSLA was awarded the design of the first active park to be built in the City’s ‘Folsom Plan Area’, south of Highway 50. The 11.5 acre site is adjacent to the Mangini Ranch Elementary School and will include: a parking lot for 118 cars, multi-use fields, a lighted 200’ ball field, a dog park for both large and small dog breeds, a lighted basketball court, 2 lighted tennis courts, 2 synthetic turf volleyball courts, and a large children’s adventure play area for multiple age ranges.
Support facilities include a single user, all gender restroom and shade structures for both small and large groups. Community outreach led by WDSLA resulted in a Master Plan incorporating large, non-turf areas with low water-use plant material. This evolved into design of an extended central open space area, graded to provide bio-retention, with meandering walkways, passive seating, and bridge crossings. Construction is currently underway with an anticipated opening in Summer 2024.
